My name is Nichodemus Chisom, a multidisciplinary artist born in Lagos, Nigeria, in 1997. I am known for creating works that bridge African traditions with contemporary global narratives. My practice encompasses figurative art, mixed media, velvet art, and monochromatic painting, often focusing on African cultural memories and identity.
I was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, where I continue to live and work. My journey into art began in my early years, and I pursued formal education in the field, graduating with a degree in Painting from the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State, in 2021. Prior to that, I trained under Nome Concept Art in Oko, Anambra State, from 2016 to 2018, which significantly shaped my artistic foundation.
I perceive art as a powerful medium to explore and communicate the complexities of African identity and cultural heritage. Through inventive compositions, I merge traditional African styles with modern fashion and Afrocentric culture, creating bold, metaphoric representations of the African experience across time. My work invites viewers to rethink history, beauty, and the future, grounded in simplicity and deep introspection.
Outside of my artistic practice, I have a keen interest in exploring various forms of creative expression and cultural research, which continually inform and inspire my work.
