About the artist:

My name is Cardoso Oluwaseyifunmi, and I am a self-taught visual artist from Lagos, Nigeria. I am known for my expressive and thought-provoking artworks, specialising in oil paint and charcoal powder. My work serves as a powerful medium of communication, capturing emotions, stories, and societal narratives.

Born and raised in Lagos, I discovered my passion for art at the age of 18. From an early stage, I was drawn to the idea of creating visual expressions that go beyond words. Over the years, I have refined my craft, allowing my art to become a voice—one that speaks where words fall short. I see art as an unfiltered form of expression, a way to challenge perspectives, inspire thought, and document human experiences. In a world where freedom of speech is often restricted, I believe art remains a voice that cannot be silenced.

I work from my home studio, constantly exploring new techniques to push the boundaries of my creativity. My artworks reflect themes of life, culture, and identity, offering a connection between personal expression and broader social issues. I have had no formal art training; instead, I have dedicated myself to continuous learning, practice, and experimentation to refine my skills and artistic vision.

Beyond my artistic practice, I find inspiration in music, which plays a significant role in my creative process. Music helps me channel emotions into my work, shaping the mood and depth of my pieces. Outside of art, I enjoy exploring different genres of music and immersing myself in creative experiences that fuel my passion for storytelling through visual expression.
