My name is Craig Tiengane, and I am a self-taught visual artist specializing in painting and realistic drawing. I was born in Francistown, a small town in Botswana, and today, I work as a full-time professional artist across various locations, Zimbabwe (Mutare), Namibia (Windhoek), and Botswana (Maun), depending on where art is most embraced and appreciated.
Art has been a lifelong dream for me. I first became interested in creating at a very young age, during my preschool years, and that passion has only grown stronger with time. Although I’ve never attended a formal art school or earned an art degree, I take immense pride in being self-taught. My dedication, observation, and years of practice have shaped my skills and allowed me to develop a distinct and powerful artistic voice. I believe my work speaks for itself, it carries my journey, my gift, and my unwavering commitment to the craft.
I see art as a reflection of both discipline and emotion. Every piece I create is rooted in authenticity, shaped by a desire to represent life as it is raw, beautiful, and often complex. Being self-taught has given me a unique approach, free from convention and rich in personal insight.
Outside of my creative work, I’m more of an indoor person, but I do enjoy certain outdoor activities. I love playing Chase and basketball, which keep me grounded and energized.
As a featured artist on Afriartspace.com, I’m proud to represent a voice that’s entirely self-made, driven by passion, shaped by perseverance, and shared with the world through the powerful lens of African realism and creativity.
