My name is Lamptey-Mills Ricard, also known by my artistic name, Hero McMills. I am a contemporary visual artist with a passion for creating captivating works using palette knives and mixed media, primarily acrylic on both smooth and textured surfaces.
Born and raised in Accra, Ghana, I currently work as a self-employed artist in my hometown. My journey in art began early, as I recognized it as a God-given talent. Throughout my schooling years, I actively participated in art departments, nurturing my skills and creative expression.
I hold Grade 1 and Grade 2 certificates from the National Vocational Technical Institute (NVTI) in Painting and Decor. This formal training, combined with years of practice, has shaped my ability to create striking works that reflect my unique perspective.
To me, art is more than just a creative pursuit; it is a way to share my emotions, passions, and personal story. My work often conveys narratives in a diasporic context, offering viewers a glimpse into my experiences and the cultural richness that influences my art.
Through my paintings, I aim to connect with people, evoke emotions, and inspire deeper thought about the beauty and diversity of life.
