I am Azeez Okulaja, a contemporary visual artist from Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria. Born and raised in Lagos, I continue to live and create in this vibrant city, working from my mini studio.
My artistic journey began in childhood, fueled by my love for colors and creativity. As a comic book enthusiast, I often drew on the backs of school notebooks and desks, turning everyday objects into canvases. Art became my way of expressing ideas and emotions that words could not fully capture.
I work with painting and mixed-media, embracing any material that inspires creativity. For me, art is more than just an activity—it’s a way of life, a storytelling medium that connects the past, present, and future. I see art as a spirit that chooses only the strong and creative minds, a force that shapes how I perceive and navigate the world.
Although I am a high school graduate, I refined my natural talent by learning painting techniques from a local gallery. However, most of my style is self-taught, reflecting my dedication to exploring my unique creative voice.
Beyond art, I am passionate about music, which feeds my creative soul, and I enjoy sports, adding balance to my life. My work is a reflection of my journey, and through it, I aim to inspire others and bring stories to life.
