About the artist:

My name is Chinemerem Ugele, and I am a self-taught digital artist passionate about crafting surreal, emotionally evocative works through Photoshop manipulation. Using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, I bring celestial visions to life, drawing inspiration from the mysteries of the universe to create art that evokes a sense of calm, peace, and gentle introspection.

I was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and I currently work remotely as a data curator while pursuing my artistic practice from the comfort of my room. I’ve always had a deep fascination with art, but my creative journey truly began when I discovered the limitless potential of digital tools, especially Photoshop.

For me, art is a space of escape, dreaming, and emotional release. It allows me to express what I often find difficult to articulate in words. I’ve always felt a strong connection to the cosmos, the vastness, the silence, the unknown, and this connection shapes much of my visual language. My work is a reflection of this inner world: tranquil, contemplative, and otherworldly.

Although I’ve never attended art school, I’ve taught myself everything I know through persistent practice, curiosity, and an enduring passion for visual storytelling. My approach to digital art is highly intuitive and experimental, allowing me to explore surreal landscapes and metaphysical concepts in a deeply personal way.

Outside of creating, I enjoy reading, writing, listening to music, and exploring new places. I’m also drawn to meaningful conversations and the joy of meeting new people, all of which nourish my imagination and keep my creative energy alive.

As a featured artist on Afriartspace.com, I’m honoured to share my vision with a wider audience and contribute to the vibrant narrative of African digital art. My work invites viewers to slow down, look up, and reconnect with the wonder within and beyond.
