My name is Lerato Letsipa, a self-taught artist from Heilbron, a small town in the Free State province of South Africa. My artistic journey began at the young age of 10, fueled by an early passion for creative expression. Over the years, I have developed a profound connection to the charcoal medium, which has become a cornerstone of my artistic practice.
As an artist, I am known for creating evocative portraits that capture the depth of human emotions and experiences. My work is deeply narrative, using the language of art to tell stories that are both personal and universal. Through each piece, I strive to connect with my audience, evoking empathy and encouraging reflection on the shared essence of humanity.
While I have not received formal training, my dedication to the craft has been my teacher, allowing me to refine my skills and develop a unique artistic voice. Charcoal, with its versatility and expressive qualities, has enabled me to bring out the subtleties and complexities of emotion in my work.
When I’m not creating art, I enjoy playing soccer and spending quality time with my family. These moments of connection and recreation inspire my work, reminding me of the importance of community and shared experiences in shaping our stories. Through my art, I hope to continue exploring and celebrating the beauty of human connections.
