My name is Loje Oluwaseun, and I am a female visual artist based in Lagos, Nigeria. I was born on 2nd February 1990 in Ode Aye, Ondo State, and I work as a full-time studio artist. My artistic style leans towards semi-abstract representation, where I bring figures to life using acrylic paint, Ankara fabrics, netting, and a variety of other found materials that enhance texture and energy within my work.
Art has been part of me since childhood, but I truly began engaging with it seriously at the age of 10. From that point, creating became more than just a pastime, it became my voice. I see art as a powerful form of communication and healing. For me, it’s a deeply personal process, allowing me to express emotions that words often fail to convey.
I view art as a doorway to memory, imagination, and emotional clarity. It helps me reconnect with beautiful moments from the past while pushing the boundaries of what I can see and dream. Through my art, I aim to capture these feelings and share them with others, inviting reflection, empathy, and connection.
I hold a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Art and Industrial Design from Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu, where I honed both my technical skills and creative voice. My practice has continued to evolve through hands-on experimentation and a love for expressive, material-rich composition.
Outside of my art, I enjoy watching films, not just for entertainment, but to learn and absorb meaningful narratives that often find their way into my work. Above all, painting is my true passion, and I find myself most alive when I’m immersed in the creative process.
As a featured artist on Afriartspace.com, I’m honoured to share my work and vision with a wider audience. Through my pieces, I hope to inspire healing, spark conversations, and celebrate the beauty of storytelling through art.
