My name is Saidu Abdulmumini Degri, and I am an Eco-art and figurative painter from Gombe State, northern Nigeria. I hold a B.A. in Fine Art, specializing in painting, from Ahmadu Bello University. With over 15 years of experience in the art field, I have developed a distinctive style deeply influenced by the natural environment that surrounds me. My work has been recognized through various awards, including a Gold Medal at the iCreate Africa Skills Fest in 2019 and an award in the Senior Drawing category in 2018. I have also had the privilege of participating in numerous exhibitions.
As an ecological and figurative artist, I strive to evoke profound emotions through my work. My art reflects a deep connection to nature and humanity, illustrating the balance between the beauty of the natural world and the flaws of human actions that shape our environment. Motivated by emotional sensitivity and a drive for action, I address pressing social and environmental issues through my pieces.
Drawing inspiration from both the natural world and the social injustices I encounter, my creative process is rooted in observation and transformation. I channel my emotions into creating art that not only highlights challenges but also seeks to offer solutions. As an impressionist and expressionist painter, I explore a dynamic blend of conventional materials like oil and acrylic, alongside non-conventional, organic materials to give my works depth and texture.
