Artistic Vision

The sculpture, crafted from mild steel and finished with bronze spray paint embodies a profound intersection of spirituality, healing and redemption. The piece is inspired by the biblical narrative of Moses lifting the bronze serpent in the wilderness (Numbers 21 : 4-9), a symbol of divine salvation foreshadowing of Christ’s crucifixion. Technique

• Metal Cutting :  The steel components, including the cross and the snake were cut using an angle grinder.
• Metal Bending : The serpent was formed by heating a steel tube with a heating torch and bending the tube around a cylindrical shaft to achieve its spiral shape.
• Welding : The cross sections were welded together using MIG welding machine, to ensure structural integrity. The snake’s head was also welded to the coiled body.
• Grinding and Smoothening : An angle grinder was used to smooth out rough edges and seams, especially at the welded joints.
• Surface Preparation : The entire sculpture was sanded to improve paint adhesion.
• Spray Painting : The bronze spray paint was applied to give the sculpture an antique, metallic appearance, enhancing the the contrast between the snake and the cross.
• Assembly and Finishing Touches : The final structure was checked for balance, stability and aesthetic appeal before being mounted on a sturdy base.
